Odyssey - telecommunications for business

Odyssey Systems Broadband

For those businesses that find their users competing for broadband width, Odyssey can provide a load balancing service. Load balancing combines multiple broadband connections and increases the bandwidth available (upto 5MB upload, 40MB download). Multiple users are able to enjoy the full bandwidth offered by combining connections, and multiple connections offer a more resilient broadband solution.

We even offer bonded broadband service for those businesses in need of a higher speed broadband connection but find their premises just too for away from the exchange.

Fibre to the cabinet is currently being rolled out around Teesside and surrounding areas, so why not call Mike and the team to check if your exchange is upgraded.

ODYSSEY CAN KEEP YOU UPTO SPEED

As businesses become more reliant on broadband for many aspects of their day to day running, it is crucial to have a connection that is not only high speed but also high quality.

Odyssey Systems offer fully managed broadband, controlled by their very own dedicated team. They maintain the smooth running of all our broadband systems, oversee the ordering of broadband lines, carry out speed tests and resolve broadband faults.

We realise that if your broadband goes down, your business could grind to a halt, so its of utmost importance to get you back up to speed as soon as possible. When you call Odyssey you will not be subjected to lengthy call queues, and can speak to a fully trained IT engineer straight away. Your problem will be dealt with as a matter of priority and you will be kept updated every step of the way.

Your broadband services can be accessed remotely so any problem can be quickly identified and resolved with minimum disruption. In the rare event that a fault cannot be fixed remotely one of our highly skilled IT field engineers will be happy to come to site to get you back up and running.

Unlike some providers Odyssey will ensure none of our customers are “throttled” at peak usage time during the day, guaranteeing a quality high speed broadband service 24/7.

Odyssey Virtual Numbers

INCREASE YOUR BOUNDARIES WITH VIRTUAL NUMBERS

A number of factors can restrict a business’ ability to expand their territorial area, but why should your phone number be one?

If you’re a business using standard local area code, it can sometimes be a challenge to generate new business enquiries from outside of your local area. This is simply because people often choose phone numbers that appear most local to them when selecting a business to call.

But now there is a solution to this problem. As a business you can now acquire an Odyssey Virtual Number starting with an 01 or 02 prefix, that is not specific to your local area. This means you can now have a business presence anywhere in the country without actually needing to have premises in that area.

The virtual phone number looks exactly like a geographical number from that area, customers will still be charged at a local rate, but calls are instantly re-routed to your normal business line, mobile phone or even your home number, meaning that no matter where you are, you will never miss that important call.

Odyssey Systems holds good quality virtual numbers for every town in the UK, and also provides non-geographical numbers such as 0800, 0845, and 03 numbers.

John Feeney Odyssey Systems

What does your job involve, tell us about a typical day?
Odyssey cover most of the country, I know what my first job of the day is and where I need to be. I will then check that I have the equipment I need, so visiting the office is rarely necessary and I use my phone or e-mail to communicate with colleagues. The use of VOIP systems has increased the time I spend on telephone system installs. There is also a lot of meeting and engaging with people involved, whether that’s customers, colleagues, third parties such as IT contractors or even other engineers, so despite the element of self- sufficiency, it’s never a solitary role. I have got to know a lot of the customers and their IT set up over the years, which makes them comfortable with what I need to do, and their IT support companies have the confidence that whatever Odyssey do is in the best interest of the customer.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of the job?
Knowing that Odyssey are committed to making the customer happy, so they are always pleased to see me. I would have to say getting something right that we have worked on. When you have put a lot of effort into a project, then you see the final product, it is very rewarding.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
I still see myself with the company, working with new technologies and expanding that side of my work.

What was your first job?
I worked in a garden centre at weekends when I was 16.

IN WITH THE IT CROWD – JOHNS WIRED FOR COMMUNICATION

Name: John Feeney

Age: 30

Job title: IT Engineer

How long have you been with the company?
8 years

How did you get the job?
I found the vacancy through Sarah Newcombe at Work Matters, who does all of the company’s recruitment. My first position with Odyssey Systems was as an IT technician, but through learning on the job and a range of training courses, I have developed so that I am fairly self sufficient, operating on my own or with our telephone engineers. The most important thing I have learned is Odyssey’s commitment to customer delight so they give me the freedom to do whatever it takes to make the customer happy.

What skills and qualifications did you need for the job?
I have A-Levels, but the most relevant thing I did before coming into the job was a national diploma in electronics. Most of the training I have had to get me where I am now has been organised by Odyssey or simply learning by experience dealing with diverse businesses.
