GREAT NORTH RUN 2011
Not even heavy rain showers could dampen the spirits of two of Odysseys staff members running one of the worlds greatest half marathons last weekend.
Mike Odysseas and Andrew Middlemiss battled against 54000 fellow runners to complete the 2011 Bupa Great North Run. Their pure grit and determination saw Andrew complete the 13.1-mile half marathon in 1 hour 42 minutes and Mike, who was taking part in his first Great North Run, completed it in a very respectable 2 hours 7 minutes.
Mike said “It was such a great experience, the atmosphere was incredible, however I was beaten by a guy carrying a fridge and a person pushing a wheelchair so I think more training is in need for next years run.
Hopefully I have inspired a few more of the Odyssey team to join me next year and raise money for a very worthy cause.”
Mike is hopeful of a better time next year, and will be putting in a lot more training to achieve this, maybe if all that extra training pays off, he will have his sights elite section of the race?
All funds raised raised from the Great North Run will go to the Daisy Chain Project, a charity Supporting Families affected by Autism in Stockton on Tees.
